Translation is much more than a simple conversion of words from one language to another.
But you already know that – after all, you're here, thinking about sending your text to a professional translator.
I translate for industries that traditionally call for fluent, flowing writing. As such, my work doesn't end with the translation of the words and the transference of the meaning: I always strive to match the style of the source document as closely as possible, while never losing sight of its original aim.
Let me help you share your message with the world – and with your target market.
Barbora is a senior English/Czech translator for In IUSTITIA, a non-profit organization. Her translations are precise, her turnaround time is quick, and she is pleasant and easy to work with. We are happy to recommend her services.
Aneta D., In IUSTITIA
Barbora is meticulous about her work, making her one of our best long-term authors at Landigo. Her competences in her areas of expertise are unquestionable. She works independently and always meets deadlines. Thanks!
Ondřej M., Landigo
Very impressed with quick responses to questions and turnaround times; I also liked the initiative taken when we needed translations that contained industry jargon. Barbora handled snags quickly and met deadlines without compromise of quality of work.

I love what I do. I also have formal translation training and am always working on improving my skills
I will be happy to translate your texts from English into Czech. I am usually able to offer a 24-hour turnaround for texts of up to 500 words. In other cases, I will do my best to meet your expectations regarding the delivery date, but will have to take prior commitments into consideration.
I am based in Central Europe (CET/CEST, GMT+1).
I accept files in almost all formats and charge per source word – please send me your source text for a free, non-binding quote. In case of non-editable source texts (images and some PDF files), I charge per translated word and add a 25% surcharge.
I use SDL Trados Studio for technical, medical and IT translation projects. If required, I can build a glossary for your text, or translate using your preferred terminology.
I do not provide certified translations.
I offer the subtitling of English and Czech videos. I can provide the subtitles either in plain text format, or time them and deliver a subtitle file (.srt, .sub, .txt...).
I also offer subtitling for the deaf or hard-of-hearing.
I time with the help of Subtitle Edit.
Please feel free to browse through my recent projects. I have also included all of my published translations.
Mgr. Barbora Růžičková (Lyčková)
Freelance Translator (English > Czech) and Interpreter (English <> Czech)
I am a translator and interpreter working from English into Czech. A native Czech, I was brought up in a bilingual environment and spent most of my childhood abroad; today, I am based a few miles outside Prague, Czech Republic, and travel to English-speaking countries whenever I can.
I have six years of translation experience. While my main focus has always been on translation, I've also done a decent amount of editing, copywriting and interpreting, worked as a member of a software localization team and even did a brief stint as a translation project manager. However, as much as I enjoy exploring the far corners of the translation industry (and I really do!) it's translation I always return to in the end.
As for academic credentials, I hold a master's degree in English-language translation and a bachelor's degree in art history. I also spent a year studying at the University of Glasgow (English literature and art history).
My full resume is available here.
Registered in the Register of Trades of the Czech Republic under the ID number 1830546.
Continuing professional development is very important to me. I try to attend various industry conferences and events and am always working on improving my skills.

How does the translation process work? First, let me know about your project – by e-mail, phone or through the form below. After receiving the source text, I determine whether I am a good match for your project; if yes, I will quickly prepare a completely free, non-binding quote. This quote will include the project's final cost, accepted payment methods and the proposed delivery date.
As soon as you accept the quote, I will start working on your document. If any questions arise during the translation itself, I will e-mail you and ask for clarification. Once finished, I will send the completed translation back and wait for you to confirm that you are happy with your texts.
All documents are treated with complete confidentiality. NDAs signed on request.
